Toucan Images Scanning Guide
Having a properly scanned photo will determine the final canvas/poster size & quality. Below is a set of basic guidelines to follow to ensure you get the best results.
- 6 Easy Steps
- Scanner Settings - Set your scanner to the default settings.
- Resolution - For photos that are a standard print processing size (4x6 inches) or bigger set the resolution to 600 dpi. Smaller photos will require a resolution of 1200 dpi. If you want a canvas size bigger than 30x20 inches scan at a resolution of 1200 dpi.
- Scanner Glass & Your Photo - Check your photo & the scanner glass for any smudges, fingerprints or debris. Please clean the scanner glass according to the cleaning recommendation given in the user’s manual, and clean your photo with a lint-free cloth.
- Placement & Preview Scan - Carefully place the photo face down on the glass. If your photo has been bent or has creases and folds, put a weight – such as a book on the photo to flatten it out.
- Start the ‘preview’ scan. Your scanner will do a quick pass of the photo. Check to make sure the image is placed upright and not at an angle, also check that no part of the photo is cut off and that it is free of dust & debris.
- Final Scan Scan the photo in colour, even if your photo is Black & White or sepia, and save it in JPG / JPEG format.
